During last year’s festival, the only film I saw was Half of a Yellow Sun {based on the book}. The author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie signed my book as well as my BFF’s! See below. She said we had beautiful hair and that’s why she drew the smiley face with curly hair on my BFF’s book 🙂
The movie was okay, pretty sad. The best movie I saw at the New Africa Film Festival was in 2012. I saw Mama Africa. A documentary about the late and great South African singer Mariam Makeba. I didn’t know anything about her beforehand and the documentary was so informative and entertaining. Another interesting film I saw at the 2012 festival was An African Election. It was a documentary chronicling Ghana’s 2008 presidential election. It was interesting to see how the election was done there. If you’re into African films and African documentaries, click on the links below. I listed below by film festival year {starting from the first year I attended, 2011} the link to each year’s list of films. Some of the films from the previous years might be on You Tube or Netflix.
