My Black Love DC {Part Deux} RECAP!

I had a blast this past Sunday at the 2nd annual Black Love Experience also known as Black Love DC hosted by Nubian Hueman Boutique. I wrote an official recap on Nubian Hueman’s blog HERE. The professional pics are there and so is my  in depth recap. This recap is for my cute iPhone pics and videos. That’s all…lol I was checking guests in {I work at Nubian Hueman} so I saw a great deal of FLYNESS! When I saw this beauty step up in the ticket line, I had to ask her for a pic. She is fly! Look at that head wrap DOE! #HeadwraponFLEEK #QueenTingz She was def giving me 90s Ms. E Badu! YASS for the #slayage!

Processed with VSCOcam with s3 presetAfter I tagged her flyness on my Instagram. I found out via her Instagram that she and her friend share a blog. It’s a dope blog. Click here to view it!

Processed with VSCOcam with s3 presetI met Maiya! I’ve been following her for a minute. She has a natural hair You Tube channel here that I’m subscribed to. She also used to make jewelry and cute pins. I bought a really cute pin from her years ago. I just love her style, hair and necklaces!! She is fly! She is also a Nubian Hueman brand ambassador.

FullSizeRender(46)It’s a really beautiful thing when black people come together to uplift and support one another. We are all so talented and gifted. There is power in Black unity and we need to appreciate our culture/heritage. In addition, we need to support black owned businesses and black artists. I am not shunning anyone else’s culture because there is beauty in ALL cultures! Not just the African/Black culture. One culture is not superior to the next but I did feel a sense of African/Black pride that night and it was a great feeling. I left that night feeling very inspired. This was the type of event that you could attend alone {if you didn’t have anyone to go with}. The energy and atmosphere were inviting. A matter of fact, last September I attended the Nubian Hueman one year anniversary alone. I didn’t know anyone there but I met some great people. Months later, I caught up with those very same people at Black Love DC. That’s how Nubian Hueman events are.  Everyone is so friendly. No competition, no cattiness, no hate, just love and respect. At Black Love DC, I was able to talk to people I’ve followed for years via social media but had never met in person. I was greeted with a big hug and nothing but love from these individuals. It’s always nice to step away from social media land and have a human connection. I also really appreciate the platform that Black Love DC provides to black owned businesses and black artists. In stressful times such as now, especially with all that’s going on in the black community {i.e. #BlackLivesMatter}, this platform is very necessary for my generation and generations to come. Black is beautiful and so is buying black. I hope to see you at the next Nubian Hueman event 🙂

Stay tuned for spring and summer events at Nubian Hueman. We’ve just begun! Subscribe to my blog to be updated and sign up for the Nubian Hueman newsletter here.  There are also updates on Nubian Hueman’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Be on the look out for the official recap on Nubian Hueman’s blog!

Have a wonderful weekend!
