Goodbye June! HELLO July!

June was nice!!! I am so looking forward to July! I wish summer could last forever πŸ™‚ But here is recap of my June in pics, video clips and my two cents.

Brookside Gardens NEVER gets old to me! It’s always nice taking a stroll through there! #CARDIO

I could take pictures of flowers all day! It never gets old to me! #FlowerPower

The Capital Wheel at National Harbor

capital wheel at the national harbor

This wheel is not worth the $16.50 adult price ticket! I could not and did NOT see theΒ  Washington Monument from inside :-/ Perhaps I wasn’t looking hard enough but for $16.50 I shouldn’t have to. #OVERPRICED However, the kiddies would enjoy this!

Assateague State Park

This beach is much cleaner and less crowded than Ocean City. It’s calming and perfect for a nice nap! $4.00 for Maryland residents. Don’t mistake it for Assateague National Seashore though. They’re so close to each other but below are the important differences:

Assateague National Seashore $15.00 entrance fee per vehicle-7 days meaning your pass is good for one week. No gift shop or food shop. Bigger beach. Ideal for someone in town longer than a day or two.

Assateague State Park-The standard parking charges apply – in-season, $4.00 per person for Maryland residents, $6.00 per person for non-residents. Gift shop and food shop. Smaller beach . Ideal for a day trip.

Both places are nice and clean. I went to the island last summer and the state park in the pics above. I prefer either one over Ocean City. Ocean City is RATCHET. It’s good for funnel cake, boardwalk fries and rides. It’s beach is dirty and crowded. The boardwalk is useful though.

I saw the wild ponies when I was coming in.Β  That’s better than last summer when all I saw was there huge dumps.

TevinΒ  Campbell LIVE at the Howard Theatre!!!

Kenya On The MallΒ

Lupita Nyongo’s father was in attendance! I saw him dancing and totally enjoying himself πŸ™‚

You can catch a glimpse of Lupita’s daddy in this clip below {he’s wearing the khaki pants and brownish shirt}. I didn’t find out that was him until later. I was just recording..lol

GET DOWN ON IT! The lady in red is the museum’s director Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole.Β  She’s fly and her bio is even cooler!

The Cost of Living is Too High For Me {I really liked this song and the lead singer #yum..lol}

Β The museum turned 50 this year! There were many celebrations in June to kick off its 50th anniversary. I missed just about all of them:-( I wasn’t even aware that there were so many museum events in June until it was too late:-(Β  Checkout the museum’s events calendar or its Facebook for updates on the latest museum events.

Inside the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art! If there are not any events taking place, the museum is STILL worth visiting! Lots ofΒ  interesting art and history!!

BELLEΒ

The only movie I paid money for in June. It was directed by British-Ghanaian director and my namesake Amma Asante. I wanted to see it because I thought it would be like Alex Haley’s Queen. It wasn’t and I struggled to stay awake but I was also craving Cold Stones..lol I did think the movie was boring though. Perhaps because I had a certain expectation. Did anyone see Think Like a Man Too? How was it?

What is June without shopping, eating out and #SELFIES<3

I am looking forward to July! I can’t wait to attend the New Edition All Six Tour on July 20th at the Verizon Center. I get to be reunited with my boos Bobby and Ralph! #YUMMERZ I bought my bro a ticket for his 40th b-day! This is his first time seeing New Edition live and my second time :-)! I am also looking forward to Independence Day this Friday. #3DAYWEEKEND I promise to post some fun fourth of july events happening as well as July summer events. I totally SLACKED for June! #Myapologies

  1. omdz, your June was amazing!!! ❀ ❀ those flowers and the food <3, Really hope I will be really active/out and about this July. The weather just keep getting better. Those times when you're not aware of events going on around your town lol. Gets me every time.

    • Thank Akos! I ate well..lol
Yes be active! Have fun and enjoy that summer heat. I hate when there are events taking place that I was unaware of and I was sitting at home on the day of the event doing NOTHING!
